Commemorating Stephen’s 39th Birthday 

A Foundation Update

Dear Family and Friends,

As we commemorate Stephen’s 39th birthday, we wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the love and kindness shown to us since his passing. We love and miss our son and brother dearly, but your kind messages sharing a thoughtful remembrance of Stephen or a passing thought of a time together or just wanting to let us know you are thinking of him and us, has been heartwarming.

In February 2022 in honor of Stephen’s passion for youth athletics, we founded The Stephen D. Menzies Rising Youth Athletics Foundation with the initial mission to “invest” in sports-based youth development programs. These programs typically provide competitive sports teams and mentoring for underserved youth. Through our diligence, we have met many dedicated and committed coaches, mentors and program leaders without whom these programs would not succeed.

Since the inception of the Foundation, we have been pleased to make six grants totaling $120,000 to four programs providing football, cheer and lacrosse to young women and men in underserved communities. These investments, providing equipment, uniforms and travel expenses to national championships, have had a direct impact on over 1,200 young women and men participating in the programs. Through your generosity and support we are creating youth development opportunities that might not otherwise be available. Thank you! Your support inspires us to continue our work.

As the Foundation grows, we expect to expand the scope of our investments. We are actively seeking opportunities leveraging our resources to have a sustainable impact on young people’s lives. Whether it’s scholarships or athletic facilities in addition to supporting our sports-based youth development programs, your generosity makes these investments possible.

Today and every day we celebrate you, Stephen. As we gather at the beach, one of your favorite places, to celebrate your birthday, we know you are watching over us.

Although today’s celebration is different, our loving memories of you remain with us each day.

The Stephen D. Menzies Rising Youth Athletics Foundation continues to make great progress, as we strive to honor our Son and Brother. The meaningful impact the Foundation is having on youth athletics programs reflects the impact you had on so many lives.

Thank you to our many friends and dear family for your love and support of the Foundation. It is deeply appreciated.
